6 Latest Trends of Website Design

The task of a designer is to set a trend and not to follow a trend. Sometimes, it is not a bad idea to follow the ongoing trends and achieve the best out of it. There were some website designing ideas that gained popularity in the later part of 2019 and some of them will even rule in 2020. Today, we will discuss some of the latest trends of website design.

At first, colours are the most important elements of a website. It creates and shapes the mood of a visitor. A website can seem dull and boring without a proper colour combination. The combination of using black-and-white is getting popular nowadays with white as the clearest of all colours and black is assertive and strong. While designing a website, you have to be careful if your base colour is black-and-white. If you add an accent colour with this combination, you will end up breaking up the sea of monochrome.

Minimalism has become one of the biggest trends recently with its aesthetic and simple style. Minimalism is considered one of the most classic and timeless web design trends according to various surveys. The fewer the elements on a website, the less the audience has to overthink. All the options are easy to find if a website is designed in a minimalist approach. Minimalist design will continue to dominate the designing sector for a long time for sure. That is why I picked this as the second item of my list.

To me, the third most important trend in website design is the shape and the layout. There was a time when website designers focused only on systematic grids whereas nowadays, the website designers are focusing on natural shapes and smooth lines. The latest trending designs are concerned with the feeling of accessibility and comfort. However, the usual geometric structures like triangles, square and rectangles represent only a sense of stability in website design. My suggestion is to give focus on the organic shapes. Usually, organic shapes are not that perfect and so do our lives. The task of a website designer is to design a website like a home.

For the fourth trend you should consider adding; Chatbots. They have been around for quite a long time now, but 2020 is the year when it will be at its peak. This is because of the advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the machine learning sector. Nowadays, the chatbots are efficient and intelligent. You will see chatbots are showing up more and more with a higher level of customization than we have experienced in the past.

Then, I would like to add micro-interaction in the fifth position. The sole purpose of micro-interaction is to surprise the visitors and create an event that is inviting and human. It seems a little bit complicated, so let me clarify it – Every time you make a small action on any website, there is a specific response to it, and that is micro-interaction. As an example, whenever you refresh a Twitter page, you hear a audible confirmation and this is a perfect example of micro-interaction. Every day we visit websites full of micro-interactions and most of the time we are not aware of its appearance. However, this is a practical way to involve your visitors in your website.

Last but not least, this is the best time for making and promoting video content. According to many agencies, video content is the ultimate key and creating and adding a video to your website will not only diversify the website, but also provide an overall outlook of your contents. It is a friendly option for those who do not have enough time to scan through a lot of text. Even Google gives priorities to video contents over traditional websites. You see, Google shows video contents above standard web pages. Thus, you see the importance of video production and its addition to a website.

In short, these are the website designing trends that will lead throughout the year in my opinion. There will be some surprises like always and there is scope for you to add your own ingenuity to this list of trends as well.
